I have worked in graphic design since 1985 and retired in May 2019 after 27 years at Illinois Wesleyan University. My primary role is as graphics editor and designer of the quarterly alumni magazine. I created template design for the graphic look to the previous University and current Alumni websites. I work on specific projects that connect to our alumni including the alumni magazine and website. I work with all departments of the University with specific assignments for the athletics and theatre publicity. I also have done some specialty projects with the counseling office to promote student safety and alcohol awareness. Prior to my current position, I worked at Illinois State University andthe Osborne & Delong agency, Bloomington, IL. I graduated from Illinois State University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in Art and Design.

Other work includes 30 years of three– dimensional design and production including displays, theatrical sets and scenic painting. I have designed displays in the Shirk Center and The Ames Library at Illinois Wesleyan. I have worked freelance as a designer and illustrator for several local agencies. I lived in Hudson, IL with my wife of 34 years, Connie Darrow-Schwartz. She passed away on March 1st, 2016 and I continue to reside in Hudson in the same house. It is not the same without her, but it is still home.
